Nacho Daddy’s Oscars Party: Nacho Daddy Mexico’s own Sean Moore acted as host and star and starlet security for the bar’s ever-popular Oscars Night party. We rolled out the red carpet for local VIPs (our customers) and watched Meryl Streep snag best actress and “The Artist” nail best picture.

If you want to be treated like a Hollywood star, mosey on down to 180 Basilio Badillo in La Zona Romantica, home to the best nachos and friendliest bar and restaurant staff in Puerto Vallarta.

TV Pioneer Linda Ellerbee Loves Puerto Vallarta

Here is a picture of me and my good friend Linda Ellerbee. She loves our country fried chicken she can’t get enough of our southern gravy at NachoDaddyMexico. (That’s me on the left!)

Linda also really enjoys our enchiladas. Linda spends at least 5 months here every year. She come here very often. I’m not normally a name-dropper, but, hey, she loves this place and we love her.

Vallarta Guys Get Publicity — the Bad Kind

Puerto Vallarta’s gay community is buzzing about news the owners of a gay club here were on the lam after embezzling $600,000 back in Nashville, Tennessee.

After stealing more than $600,000 from Vanderbilt University, Jason Hunt and boyfriend Samuel Cole Wakefield did what any party-loving fugitives would do: they fled to Puerto Vallarta and opened a gay club in the Centro Zone, according to Queerty.

According to press reports, everything was cool at the club when it opened late last year, but the party ended when authorities busted Hunt after he left his nightclub asylum and traveled to … wait for it … Arkansas!

There’s an old saying about publicity: “I don’t care what kind I get, just so they spell my name right.” Well, maybe this little item is one of those times when they wished for anonymity.

National ‘Charro’ Finals Coming to Puerto Vallarta

If you thought the United States invented cowboys, you’re all wet.

Charrería – the art of horsemanship — came to Mexico from Spain with the Spanish conquerors. Today, Charros is the term for experts in roping and riding who compete to be the best — all while wearing the finest and fanciest Mexican cowboy clothes.

The First National Charro Championships are coming to Arena Vallarta in the “El Colorado” area of Puerto Vallarta Jan. 26-30. There will be daily competitions. The arena holds 5,000 and has parking for 600 cars. What a great event to launch the new arena’s reputation!

And just like American cowboys, Charros are into partying, which impresses the heck out of us here at Nacho Daddy Mexico.

Nacho Daddy’s Joe King Carrasco Wins Lifetime Music Achievement Award

The folks gathered around the bar and music stage of Nacho Daddy Mexico are tipping their hats and clinking their glasses to news that the Academy of Texas Music will honor our own Joe King Carrasco with a Lifetime Achievement Award on March 24.

That’s at the 10th annual TEXAS MUSIC AWARDS in Linden, Texas. It’s only the third such award the Academy is bestowing upon a Texas musician. “It is not an honor given out lightly. Joe King is a hero to the throngs of musicians taking his lead and doing things their way.,” says the academy.

Way to go Joe! Joe King is a hero to us ex-pats down living the life down here in Puerto Vallarta. Musically speaking, he is as much of a giant among Americans, Canadians and Europeans who are living the free and easy life in Old Mexico as Jimmy Buffett is to the Parrotheads.

Thing is, devotees of Joe King just don’t don Hawaiiian shirts for a concert or two. We live the life 24/7 down Old Mexico Way.

We’re talking late, late nights and late mornings that start with a cup of high-octane Mexican espresso before a walk to the beach to wiggle our toes in the sand, with a breakfast burrito and cold beer waiting for us back at Nacho Daddy Mexico at 180 Basilio Badillo,

Some red or green chile, a beer and the salty air of the Bay de Bahia clearing out last night’s tequila fog from our heads. The sun warm on our face, another day in paradise begins.
